Gus Grubba is renown in the film industry for his achievements in special effects on film. He received a Cannes film festival award in 1994 for his work with painterly effects on film.

An American born in Brazil, he is schooled in architecture; however passion turned his attention to motion pictures special effects where the boundaries of art and science unite.

Grubba's work allows a good conversation between form and abstraction. He gives the mind permission to weave images, create musings about ourselves and our environment, reflecting a passion to reconcile the realms of mind and heart; the geological and anatomical. He provokes us to contemplate not only the basis of the false dichotomy between art and science, but also the distinction of mind and nature, and of all humanly imposed sense of order.
